Frank Emerson: Guestbook

Lee Kuhn

July 26, 2018

Wow Frank--impressive website! Didn't know we have such a celebrity in the neighborhood.
Seeing you perform in Savannah is now on my bucket list. I squeezed it in between learning to juggle and visiting Area 51. Give my best to Simon and Frances; not in that order.

Thanks for singing Patrick mcgintys goat last night it was moms favorite, then you sang a song of a mom singing to her son which really made me cry but your wonderful toasts helped me smile. You should write a book of your toasts?

October 13, 2017

Hi Frank! It was great meeting you the last few days in Savannah. Music was fantastic and Randy has been singing that chicken song ever since you introduced it to us. He is reading your book now. We wanted to thank you for your hospitality! Hope to see you soon again! Randy and Liz

It's been a long time since we have seen you. Back at the old club in Wytheville, the table full of "clergy" that gathered every month[early '90's]. Hope all is great with you and yours. Shalom, the Mackey's

I am a huge fan of you and your music. "I Love Virginia", "The Grand Da" are my favorites among your music. I really wish to watch any of your stage shows, but never got a chance for that.

I saw where you will be performing at Kevin Berry's in SAvannah. I thought, that name sounds formiliar. I think I used to come see you in Wytheville, VA at Words & Music? Could I be mistaken? I used to work at WVVA Television in Bluefield, WV, living in Savannah these days. Will try to get to your performance!

March 24, 2013

Looking forward to our next rendezvous; I missed you during my last visit to Kevin Barry's in February. I passed through your hometown while you were back down in Savannah but played your CDs throughout the mountains of SW Virginia with my daughter as the DJ!
I looked at your schedule and will try to have a drink with you before I redeploy to Afghanistan. My best to you and Francis.

Since smei-retiring in 2010 one of my main goals has been to see, hear and enjoy the 5 authors of Clean Cabbagge in athe Bucket, collect all 5 autographs in my copy of the book, procur a CD or 2 from each and enjoy some fantastic Irish music. You, Frank, will be #5. My wife and I are planning a return trip to Kevin Barry's (last time we caught Harry) to collect your autograph to join the other 4. However - we are no longer content with just the 5 authors so I am out to also meet all the other singers mentioned in the book (already got Carroll Brown)and hit as many of the pubs found in the book.
I look forward to our stop in Savannah on Dec 2 or 3.

A year or so ago, my wife and I drove over from Beaufort, SC to have dinner on River Street. Being an Irishman and hearing this wonderful music coming from Kevin Barry's we had to stop! When we sat down and ordered some dinner, I asked you if you knew the song "Honor Bright" and you replied "no, do you?" and offered me your guitar to play it....

With a guitar player in every corner of every bar in Savannah, I had no idea that the man handing me his guitar was such a renowned player. I have been playing in and around Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, and Charleston for years but unfortunately had never run into you. Too many gigs to hear others play!

I would just like to say that all in all that was the best experience I have ever had as a musician, to feel so welcome, and to take the stage with a great talent as yourself.

Your music is a delight and I hope to see you again in Savannah soon!

"Toasting a Jameson to you as I wright this!"

While the historical St. Paddy was a Welshman, that gentle son of poets could never pen a song nor sing a ballad so sweetly as you, old friend. Thank you for singing the songs and making the music. The world's a better place when you take up the harp and voice your bring us nearer to Tir na nÓg and the lands of Westernesse. Once I recover from THIS St. Patrick's Day I'll raise a(nother) bowl in remembrance and tribute to my favorite troubadour. Best to Frances, she's prettier than you!

Just wondering what the reason was for the fundraiser in May of 1987 for Sean Sands. Wondering if there was an illness or such in the family, or if it was in honor of Bobby.

I first heard you sing back in the late 80s at Kevin Barry's. I've been in love with your music ever since. My favorite continues to be "Safe in the Harbor". It was the first song that caught my teenage attention. The last time I was in Savannah, sadly, I missed your performance. One day I'll be back again. thank you for sharing your gift.

Of all the songs, Safe in the Harbour was so touching and I know it meant a lot to Kathy to hear you sing it.

Hi Frank! It's been sooo long! I don't think we've seen you since you sang at our rehersal dinner in '98. Chris' family still talks about what a great time they had. I bought the book you boys wrote for Chris' B-day and I'm looking forward to reading it myself. If we make it back down south to visit Marty and Colleen we'll have to bring in the 3 kids to meet you. Yes we have 3 now too. Take Care and may your days (and nights) be easy ones!

May 31, 2008

Jen and I greatly enjoyed your performace over the Memorial Day Weekend. You probably already knew that as we came to three shows, three nights in a row! With all Savannah had to offer a couple out for the evening, there was no other place that either of us wanted to be. The CD's are great! My 3 young kids danced and laughed at Lannigan's Ball. Thank you for your proud support of those of us in uniform. Jen and I will always cherish the memories you helped us make in Savannah. We hope to catch another of your performances at Kevin Barry's very soon.

Although you and your music are "new" to me, I'm already a fan. A player of instruments myself, I've been in Irish folk groups since I was 16. Now 38 and forced to take my own "vacation" due to cancer (a sarcoma in the abdomen)I'm spending time reading "Clean Cabbage" and thoroughly enjoying the tales. I like your writing style very much! My wife was good enough to even have Robbie O'Connell sign my copy while I was hospitalized in March. Anyway, if you ever come back up to New England I'll be sure to catch your performance. Thank you for the laughs! Will

Dear Mr. Emerson,

Happy New Year from Iraq! I don't know if you remember me, but I used to catch your show at Delaney's in Columbia, SC. I was transferred to Charleston and then to Tampa. Now I'm over here in a place clled Al Taqaddum in charge of an Army transportation unit. We're actually working for the Marines, since this is a Marine camp. I went online the other day to get a copy of your Safe in the Harbour CD. I have a copy back in storage in Tampa, but I mneeded to hear Barrett's Privateers! That album kicks ass! I just wanted to say hello and let you know it's great to hear your music again. Our morale is high and everyone is in gret spirits. I hope you are doing well and I wish you the best in the new year. Take care, Frank.

December 25, 2006

One of the last times I saw you, you were with Julio over by the fireplace in I-31 crooning to a few innocent lasses and showing them that they were better off woth you than with the wild bunch carousing around them.

I spoke with Joe Flynn and Tom Herlihy last night and they told me how you might be reached. I am very glad for your success, especially as I know that music is something that has always been such a major part of your life.

It is great to know that a few good souls actually live get to the live they aspire to.

Congratulations on your success and hope that life has been as good to you as you have been to your music.

June 29, 2006

Hi Frank,

I had the pleasure of meeting you at Kevin Barry's in Savannah on June 22, 2006. You were really great!! You gave me your CD that had the story of the rugged old flag followed by The Star Spangled Banner -- it is awesome!! With your permission we would like to play it during the Mid-Atlantic Wild Horse & Burro Show. It is our hope that we will have Color Guards, riding formerly wild mustang horses, from Ft. Meyer, VA. The combination of the military in dress uniform with everything spit and polish plus the playing of your CD should bring tears to every eye.

Thanks for helping us save a part of America's Hertiage the "Wild Ones".
