Frank Emerson: Guestbook

Frank,
Although you and your music are "new" to me, I'm already a fan. A player of instruments myself, I've been in Irish folk groups since I was 16. Now 38 and forced to take my own "vacation" due to cancer (a sarcoma in the abdomen)I'm spending time reading "Clean Cabbage" and thoroughly enjoying the tales. I like your writing style very much! My wife was good enough to even have Robbie O'Connell sign my copy while I was hospitalized in March. Anyway, if you ever come back up to New England I'll be sure to catch your performance. Thank you for the laughs! Will

Another fantastic night at Kevin Barry's. Listening to Frank, eating shepherd's pie, sipping Irish Whiskey and singing along. We stumbled into the night with Frank's lovely Irish voice still ringing in our ears. Come back to Savannah soon Frank!

We live up here in Boston, and always heard that Savannah was the place to be for Irish Music and a good time. After listening to Frank Emerson's voice and listening to his songs, I know that folks are right about Savannah. We hope to hear Frank at the Topsfield Fair on 10/8, north of Boston.

Mr. Emerson,
My Wife, Mary, Son, Thomas and I enjoyed hearing you on July 4th, 2007. My brother-in-law bought several of your CD's. We enjoyed them afterwards. The beef stew and shepherd's pie went well with your music and song! Thanks for making it a very special 4th!

Great website! I it is great to see a soldier friendly website. I served in 1/75 from 94-98. I seen that you know Rick Merrit. I have been trying to contact him to see how he is doing. Last time I seen him he was leaving for CSM school. Keep up the good work!

I think you still owe me a homework assignment! What a great website! Lou Porcelli told me to search the site and I did not know enough to search "Frank". I see that you have adopted my hairstyle and like me have done a battle with cancer. Keep up the good fight. I was out to breakfast with Lou yesterday. I always remember how proud we were with the "flag" incident which you were involved in. Great to see how well you have developed your career.

Dear Mr. Emerson,
Happy New Year from Iraq! I don't know if you remember me, but I used to catch your show at Delaney's in Columbia, SC. I was transferred to Charleston and then to Tampa. Now I'm over here in a place clled Al Taqaddum in charge of an Army transportation unit. We're actually working for the Marines, since this is a Marine camp. I went online the other day to get a copy of your Safe in the Harbour CD. I have a copy back in storage in Tampa, but I mneeded to hear Barrett's Privateers! That album kicks ass! I just wanted to say hello and let you know it's great to hear your music again. Our morale is high and everyone is in gret spirits. I hope you are doing well and I wish you the best in the new year. Take care, Frank.

One of the last times I saw you, you were with Julio over by the fireplace in I-31 crooning to a few innocent lasses and showing them that they were better off woth you than with the wild bunch carousing around them.
I spoke with Joe Flynn and Tom Herlihy last night and they told me how you might be reached. I am very glad for your success, especially as I know that music is something that has always been such a major part of your life.
It is great to know that a few good souls actually live get to the live they aspire to.
Congratulations on your success and hope that life has been as good to you as you have been to your music.

Hi Frank,
I had the pleasure of meeting you at Kevin Barry's in Savannah on June 22, 2006. You were really great!! You gave me your CD that had the story of the rugged old flag followed by The Star Spangled Banner -- it is awesome!! With your permission we would like to play it during the Mid-Atlantic Wild Horse & Burro Show. It is our hope that we will have Color Guards, riding formerly wild mustang horses, from Ft. Meyer, VA. The combination of the military in dress uniform with everything spit and polish plus the playing of your CD should bring tears to every eye.
Thanks for helping us save a part of America's Hertiage the "Wild Ones".

First met Frank in 1995 at KB's in Savannah. My husband (then fiance) was in the Army, stationed at Ft. Stewart down the road a ways, and active in the SCA (medeval re-enactments). We'd cram in a vehicle and head to KB's in full garb, which for the guys usually meant kilts. What great memories! Have only been back once since 1997, but the album we got then is still in use today.
Ben was deployed to Iraq in 2003 with his Army Reserve unit when we were expecting our second child, and has corresponded quite a bit with Frank since then. It's been quite a comfort for him, and for me too. Knowing that someone we admire, respect, and whose talent has touched us really understands and appreciates the service our military men and women provide has helped Ben cope with some of the aftermath of deployment. Plus Frank's wit and perspective always bring a smile through the tears, much like his music. :)

Frank -- it's been a long, long time since I enjoyed your company (and music) here in Washington, DC! It was great thrill to find your website and "catch up" even if only virtually. I am glad to see that you are doing well. I think of you (and Tony) often -- I still have my autographed copy of Ourselves Alone, but, alas, no turntable. My warmest wishes for a very good New Year. Maybe I'll come see you in Gaithersburg!

The site is great! As usual you are always thinking of others with the organization of the Links - much appreciated. Love the photos, did you really have hair back in '79? You have really created something quite unique with the new cd. It is very personal and warm but with great technical quality. The selections are great. While enjoying this one I will look forward to the next - swing perhaps?

Love your show Frank. Have seen you in Savannah on three different occasions and must say we went down there 1st to see you and second for the Celtic Festival. Going again this year. I see you will be at Kevin Barry's during that time. Last time you gave up your playing time to Ms Madden (She's Great Have a Cd of hers) and another fella I forgot his name. Wanted to know if YOU are going to play or let some of the others play? Or beter yet, if you do share what night are you going to play the most?
We travel all the way from Gainesville Gerogia and own two of your CD's (looking to pick some more up down there). Can't wait to see you we are coming in on the 17th of Feb and plan on seeing you that night..and the next..and..next. God Bless and "All the Way" I'm a retired paratrooper from the 82nd, 325th PIR.

Frank,
Just watched "I Walk the Line" and can you believe; there was a scene where June was mad at Johnny for drinking all night and she yelled, "Fine, I'll just have Frank Emerson sing "The Ragged Old Flag", he does it better by closing with our National Anthem anyway, damn, I should have married Frank!"
